Project Description

Scavolini’s Utility System is an innovative system of elements that, without minimally compromising its aesthetics, manages to transform a kitchen into a fully usable and accessible space even for people with disabilities, the elderly, with motor problems, or who have any type of difficulty because of the reduced possibilities of action and movement. Produced for the first time on an industrial scale by the Scavolini firm with the original design of the architects Renzo Baldanello and Bernardino Pittino, it is a unique system in the sector from the point of view of functionality and the variety of the range it offers. to all those people with motor difficulties the possibility of carrying out the most common activities in the kitchen environment, reducing barriers and favoring the development of greater autonomy.
The project, born in 1998 as a result of a contest promoted in Pesaro by the Don Gaudiano Foundation (a contest that aimed to bring the reality of industrial production closer to the social problem of disability by studying new solutions), has stimulated Scavolini to accept in the first place the invitation to make the prototype of a kitchen for disabled people with the winning design of the contest and, secondly, the idea of developing a proper system of elements for disabled people, possible to apply to each of their kitchen models.
